Our Story
AI Theoria was founded in 2021 by Dr. Robert Hayes following his tenure as Chair of AI Research at MIT. The insight that drove its founding was simple but urgent: the gap between what AI research had made possible and what organizations were actually deploying was enormous — and closing that gap required more than technology. It required a new kind of advisory partner.
Most consulting firms understood business transformation. Most research labs understood AI. AI Theoria was built to do both at the highest level. By recruiting researchers who had worked at the frontier — at MIT, DeepMind, Microsoft Research Asia, McKinsey's Global AI Practice — Dr. Hayes assembled a team capable of operating fluently in both worlds.
Since 2021, AI Theoria has completed over 80 engagements across finance, healthcare, and manufacturing. We have contributed to 12 university research partnerships, filed 30+ patents, and helped Fortune 500 clients deploy AI systems that are now in production at scale. Our methodology, the AI Theoria Research-to-Deployment Framework, has become a benchmark in the field.
Today, we operate from our headquarters at 77 Massachusetts Ave in Cambridge — steps from MIT — with a global network of researchers and advisors. Our mission remains unchanged: translate AI theory into intelligent enterprise outcomes.
